This antique Early American Pattern Glass spooner was produced by the O’Hara Glass Company of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania in the No. 870 pattern, introduced in 1887 and known to collectors as Lens & Star or Star & Oval.
The piece features brilliant geometric star motifs and large oval lenses surrounding a wide frosted center band decorated with delicate floral and leaf details. A fluted pedestal-style base completes the richly patterned Victorian design.
Standing approximately 5½ inches tall, this form corresponds with documented spooners/spoon holders from the O’Hara No. 870 tableware line.
The clear glass also displays a bright green fluorescence under UV light. This reaction is shown in the photographs for collector interest; the glass composition has not been laboratory tested.
